The Name
Thursday: –noun the fifth day of the week, following Wednesday; named after the Norse God, Thor.
Definition from Dictionary [dot] Com
I've always like the sound of the word "thursday", even if it was just the name of a day of the week. When it came time to think ahead for when my own domain Noir-Atesaki [dot] Com expired, the name Thursday suddenly popped into my mind, which is why today's site is titled Thursday. It is the day that comes before my favourite day of the week, Friday, and it is numerically the number that follows my second favourite number, 3.
The History
Thursday was officially created on October 19th, 2007. However, it was not officially opened until November 18th, 2007. All site histories were copied and pasted from the time each of the sites existed, thus, are not my current thoughts. However, the history under "The Current" are my current thoughts, so in a way, you will all be able to see how the way my thoughts towards designing have changed over time.
The First: To start, I never thought I'd get this far from the beginning. I first started out with a simple rookie graphics site titled Simply Reborn Graphics. It was my first graphics site and my graphics then were not that good. At the time, Simply Reborn Graphics was just something to work on in my spare time. That is, before I started looking at all those amazing sites out there. After looking at my own site and their's, I had a desire to make a name for myself and make a site that was truly...quality. That was when I got my domain. On my domain, I made Amakudaru Designs. A more developed version of Simply Reborn Graphics. I put much more effort into Amakudaru Designs. However, that was STILL not enough to satisfy me because there were still much better sites out there. I needed to prove myself TO myself and everybody else. That was when I put Amakudaru Designs on a revamp. Little did I know, Amakudaru Designs would never come back. I opened up another version of Amakudaru Designs titled Ephemere Designs with high hopes. After I realized that it was simply no good, that Ephemere was NOT what I was looking for either, I lost all hopes and almost gave up on webdesigning. If it weren't for the help and support of my great friends, I wouldn't have come back. After several months of downtime, I finally got back my love of designing as well as my inspiration. I had my new style developed and ready to go. It was time. I knew then that Allay Pain would be born.
The Second: Prologue: After coming into the community in October of 2005, I started a graphics site titled Simply Reborn Graphics. After managing it for about three months, I realized after looking at so many amazing sites that I desperately wanted to improve myself, to become better. In December of the same year, my Uncle generously bought me the domain of Noir-Atesaki [dot] Com. From there, the stream of graphics sites came, I went through two before I realized that I simply needed to give "owning" a site a rest and just focus on getting better as a designer. Because of that, closure came to both sites and I spent my days designing away. Because I had motivation and a goal, I didn't get tired and in the April of 2006, I opened up Allay Pain, my first truly successful graphics site that offered quality graphics above all. Allay Pain lasted 8 months, and the rest...
EX'pressive was meant to be a stock photo gallery that I planned to create that never really came to be. At the time that the idea of EX'pressive came into mind, I was managing Allay Pain, a graphics site that first started on the 17th of April 2006. At the time, I had recently closed Aegis, my previous portfolio site. Soon after, I lost all motivation to update Allay Pain, it was no longer my "main" focus. It was at that time that I decided I needed a place to house all of my work, as a whole and not just the graphics portion. That was when I decided on opening a combination site. A site that contained a collection of my creations, one site that I could update frequently. That way, I didn't need to create any more sites, just one that is a little bit of everything.
The Current: At the time Thursday was created, my domain Noir-Atesaki [dot] Com, where both Allay Pain and EX'pressive once resided was close to expiring. I really didn't feel like keeping a graphics site any longer, as I did not like the pressure of having to update very often. With that said, I love webdesigning so I couldn't simply leave that behind. That was when I decided to make Thursday a portfolio, a site that still revolves around webdesigning to some degree, although of a wider range. That way, I would have more freedom to update whenever I want. I decide then to merge a blog onto the portfolio so that I was free to update with my life's experiences as well. Because my review site Topside had only recently opened, I couldn't simply leave reviewing in the dust after creating Thursday, so a review section was also merged onto Thursday. Finally, Thursday was complete, made up of a blog, portfolio, and review site components.
The Goal
The goal that I have set for Thursday is actually quite simple. Thursday's purpose is to provide a place to showcase my creations to the public, as well as share my love of webdesign with the community. I hope that others can be inspired by my works, and that my creations will be enjoyable to look at. It is every designer's dream to be able to inspire others with their works, and that is definitely the case with myself and opening Thursday.
